Why I am a councillor
I became a councillor because I genuinely care about Snodland and the people who live here. I wanted to play a more active role in my community, listen to the issues residents are facing and help make sure Snodland has a strong voice when decisions are being made about its future.
I believe local politics should be about more than attending meetings and voting on decisions. It should be about being visible in the community, understanding what matters to local people and working to make a positive difference where you can.
As an Independent councillor, I’m able to focus on what I believe is right for Snodland and its residents. I don't believe party politics should get in the way of representing the community or doing what is best locally.
For me, being a councillor is about standing up for Snodland, asking difficult questions when necessary, supporting our community and, wherever possible, turning residents' concerns into action.

My passion for Snodland
What I’m most passionate about is helping make Snodland a place where people are proud to live, work and raise their families — both today and for generations to come.
Snodland is growing, and I recognise that new homes can play an important role in our future. But development must be properly planned and supported by the infrastructure our community needs. New homes should not simply be built without considering the impact on our roads, drainage, water and sewage systems, healthcare, schools, open spaces and other local services.
I want to see development that works for Snodland, rather than development that places additional pressure on existing residents and infrastructure. That means making sure developers and decision-makers listen to the community, that necessary infrastructure is provided alongside growth, and that the character and identity of our town are protected.
I’m equally passionate about supporting our local businesses and community groups, creating opportunities for young people, improving our streets and open spaces, and making sure residents feel safe and listened to.
Above all, I want to help build a stronger, more connected and sustainable community where growth brings genuine benefits to Snodland and where local concerns are not simply ignored. With significant changes ahead through local government reorganisation, I see an opportunity to make sure Snodland has a strong voice and gets the investment, infrastructure and representation it deserves.

My approach and style
I’d describe my approach as approachable, practical and persistent. I want residents to feel that they can come to me with an issue without feeling that they are being passed from one person to another. I’ll listen to what people have to say, look into the facts and, where I can, work with the relevant council, organisation or service to try to get the issue resolved.
Many of the issues I deal with start with something a resident has noticed or raised with me. Whether it is a problem with local infrastructure, roads and pavements, planning, open spaces or another issue affecting our community, I believe in looking into the facts, asking the right questions and following things through.
I also believe in being prepared to ask difficult questions and challenge decisions when I don't believe they are in the best interests of our community. Being a councillor isn't about agreeing with everyone all the time; it's about making sure residents' concerns are properly heard and considered.
I try to be honest about what I can and can't achieve. Not every problem can be fixed by a Town Councillor, but I can help make sure the right people know about it, explain what is happening and keep pushing for answers. Ultimately, I want residents to see me as someone who will listen, take them seriously and follow things through.
